This amp will definitely output great sound and rated watts. I love the fact that it can do 1200W RMS at 4 ohms making it one of the most efficient amps on the market. I bought this amp to replace two PDX 1.600's, one of which fried. To be honest, I like the previous design on the PDX series better than this one. Upon unboxing this, your first instructions are to take a flathead screwdriver to a polished plastic part on top of the amp and pry it open to get to the mounting holes. As I was installing this I couldn't help but think that this was the stupidest design idea ever that would lead to plenty of people marring the most visible part of their amp. The previous PDX generation didn't have this. Aside from that nerve-racking beef, things went smooth after that. The new version of the power plug is nice though. It makes for quite a bit easier power supply hook-ups.

Installation was a breeze with Alpines new power terminals, speaker polarity is easy to set up. Once installation was complete tuning and setup was simple. The subsonic filter was useful but could have been adjustable instead of 15hz,30hz or off. I matched this to an Apline SWX-1245D 12" Sub which sounds perfect and very linear with this amp, as well as effortlessly reaching XMax when I need to wake the neighbors or lazy house mates up. The PDX series amps are super low noise and dont get super hot either in use. I love the small size. This amp definiately rounds out my system and I would recommend to anyone who wants sound and build quality. I recomend a capacitor and good power supply to get the most out of it though.
