5Waaaay Better than the MRP-M500 model

Got the amp last month along with one 12" Type R and a Rux Knob, and this thing bangs in my trailblazer... I never had a good sound system, my last setup kept cutting out. I had this playing some bass CD's last weekend at a car wash for about 45 mins at full volume, full gain on AMP and the freaking AMP was just WARM to the touch!!! I kept my hand on that thing for about a min before I just got tired of keeping it there. I couldn't believe it, this thing was shaking my windows and all I kept thinking was that it was going to cut out but it never did... My buddy that got me on the Alpine Type R subs has one with a MRP-M500 and was jealous because his amp gets hot and doesn't connect to a bass knob... Get this AMP you will not be disappointed!!!!

5Better than the MRP-M500

I have an MRP-M500 as well and have used that amp for about two years (various subs) with great results. I just installed the MRX-M50, and can confidently say that this amp has a few more features that make it much more desirable.

Current Setup:
2012 Honda Pilot
12" Alpine Type R in Atrend Bbox E12SV stuffed with 1LB Polyfill
Alpine MRX-M50 Amp
dB Link 4AWG Wiring Kit (decent quality wiring, but not Stinger)

1: Speaker Level "Sensing" feature

Of the two sub installs (not including this one) I have done over the past five years with factory HU's, I have used speaker level inputs: One on a Clarion EQ and the other on the Alpine MRP-M500, but I have always had to run a remote turn-on wire from a switched source. With the MRX-M50, there is no need to run a remote turn on wire. The only difference is that you will need to splice all four speaker channels from the back of the head unit (instead of just two channels) or at the speaker end of wiring. When the car is turned on and the alpine amp senses a signal from the speaker level inputs, the amp turns on. No more dealing with that little remote turn-on wire. Some may say that splicing two additional sets of speaker wires is tedious, but in my opinion this gives a much more dynamic output of bass frequencies from the HU as most factory sound systems send more bass to the front speakers than the rear. If you are picky, pick up some quick splices.

2: Power Connectors are now easier to use with "screw" style instead of "screw and plate" style

The MRX-M50 does accept 4AWG ground and power wire. The manual says otherwise, but I can confirm that 4AWG works in this amp wonderfully and is much easier to install and have stay put with these terminals.

3: Size

This amp is small for the power is sends. It fits under the front passenger seat of my Pilot with ease. You cannot even see it when it is centered under the seat.

4: Subsonic Filter

The MRX-M50 comes with a subsonic filter which is helpful for diverting amp power from those frequencies you cannot hear.

5: Alpine Factory Test

My MRX-M50 put out 586w RMS @ 14.4 Volts from the factory according to the QC card in the box. That is pretty impressive. It doesn't need much to drive the Alpine Type R I have it hooked up to. The vented box helps with getting good volume. I have always been a fan of sealed boxes, but this setup definitely changes my mind.

6: Conclusion

I am extremely happy with this setup in my Pilot for listing to all the various types of music I enjoy (Dubstep, Trance, Rock, some Rap/R&B, some Pop, etc). I am not the "damn that sub pounds / I want to be obnoxious" type guy, but I do like it loud and very clean sounding. This definitely delivers and provides plenty of good sound without turning the gain up to its optimal levels. Alpine makes quality car audio equipment, and the MRX-M50 definitely lives up to Alpine's reputation. I highly recommend it at 2ohms.

5HOLY BASS!!!!

I am 39 years old and I've been taking apart playing with and frying car electronics since I was 14. I bought this amp for my sister to put in her old classic 84 mercedes. having it push a 10 inch rockford 2ohm speaker and a ported box. I have an alpine v12 1000 watt amp analog in my truck. my amp is about 8 years old. once I heard the difference with this digital technology I immediately took this amp out of my sisters car and put it in my truck. I'm not that mean of course I went and bought another 1 for her. however my alpine v 12 got sold on craigslist. I now have mine running to s w r 12s @ 1ohm and when people here how loud it is and then see that tiny little amp they just are amazed.BUY THIS AMP!!!! no matter how or what you hook it up to, you can't go wrong
