I am using this to power a set of 3-way hifi monitors, look up Tony Gee's Black Box monitors for design specs. I wanted low distortion and QSC specs claim <.02 if it not dimed. the speakers are woofers watts rms max spl: db>
Yes the amp is overpowered for my application but it was important to me to preserve the transient response and for that you need a poweramp that can deliver a lot of current quickly. The GX7 has a switching supply that can switch in one millionth of a second and can pull 10 Amps.

My front end is a apogee mini DAC. With the pre's output on ten the mids are compressed sounding but on 8 (around 50% power) it sounds transparent and natural. At first I thought the compressed mids forward sound was the speakers or PA but it was the pre. Turning down the pre made the sound more linear so consider the whole signal chain when evaluating sound.

Signal routing on the QSC has enough options to get creative and examples are provided in the manual. I am using balanced in via XLR and 1/4" TS out (to XLR via adapter).

Sound quality meets my expectations, which were high. With the preamp dialed down to 7-8 and the QSC poweramp on 2 I have a comfortable critical listening level that fills the room. The indents on the volume pots make it easy to match levels right and left. I am considering intergrating a pair of front firing subwoofers and may purchase a second unit in the future to utilize the active crossover feature.

My only gripe is the price, but the technology delivered in this design, 6 year warranty, and perceived linear frequency response make it a pretty fair deal all things considered. Consider more expensive options and then compare their specs.

5i reccomend

fan comes on when power is switched and at idle but its not to loud, pyle pro amps has a louder fan, the fan speeds up when i drive the volume up didn't even noticed until i felt it blowing on my legs, QSC gx7 has great power, using it to drive four PRV Audio 18inch subs.. the top cover gets a bit warm, but the air coming out the unit is cool...i will soon buy another one, i also have a qsc gx5, which is also great...love them both, less weight more power i would buy any of them..
